Have you ever noticed that food tastes better in a romantic environment? One special way to ensure romance
is a picnic. Actually, planning and packing a romantic picnic basket
for two can be a very simple and inexpensive process. You can easily
make it an adventure. Choose foods that are light and satisfying. This
may be a full meal or a delightful snack such as fresh baked bread,
cheese and grapes to feed one another. Definitely include your favorite bottle of wine. You may also choose a sparkling water, juice or non-alcoholic champagne to toast your beautiful day with.
There are many types of cheeses to choose from. Some favorites are Gouda, Swiss, Brie and Chevre.

Bread and Dessert
Your bread selections may include rye, French Baguettes
or be a bit decadent and enjoy some croissants. For your wine choices
you may wish to consider your choices of cheeses. This is often personal
choice; however, there are some guidelines to follow if you choose.
Lighter wines are usually paired
with milder cheeses while stronger flavored cheeses are usually paired
with bigger flavored wines. Red wine is traditionally best with harder
flavored cheeses while white wines tend to taste better with softer flavored cheeses.
Now, for dessert, your choices should ensure that it is something that will stand up to the elements. It will most likely be a warm day for a picnic. Choose something that will not melt or spoil. You do not want to worry about something frozen or creamy that may curdle.
Be sure to pack a soft blanket to sprawl out on. You will need to include wine glasses, plates and silverware.
Choose a beautiful location to create some lasting memories. Water provided by a lake, river or ocean always makes for some beautiful backdrop or scenery. The sounds of a waterfall can be especially lovely.
One of my favorite spots is Niagara Falls. It’s so serene and romantic to take a stroll hand in hand along the flowing river with the sound of the waterfall in the distance. With the blue sky and soft clouds overhead and your best friend walking along side, there is nothing more special.
Keep the focus on the two of you as a couple. Remember it is not about making everything perfect, it is about the companion you are with and the memories that you are making together sharing a sweet kiss or two.
